Brian,

I’m sorry you feel misled by our previous response. We have done a lot of research and even began prototyping the app for Android and Blackberry, and had every intention of building it. However, due to limitations of the Blackberry platform, and for many other reasons we will not be creating CLE Mobile for Blackberry. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. If you’d like to discuss over the phone or if there is anything else I can do please contact me directly.

I stayed tuned in 2010, and 2011… it’s now 2012. Most attorneys still use BlackBerry. Where is the BlackBerry version?!

I just saw this response. I just want to be able to easily access west cle from my phone on the go. Whether it is an optimized website, or a dedicated app really doesn’t matter to me as long as it is easy to use, navigate and search on the phone. It would be great to have an optimized westlaw.com too.

I guess the biggest advantages of app support could be a link on the android home screen, and maybe integration with speech to text and the genius button.

Bottom line should be ease of use.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for following up. Unfortunately I don’t have much of an update for you. We’re aware of the growth and popularity of Android, in fact, I’m an avid Android user myself. We’re trying to determine our technology priorities for the next year or two and things like an Android mobile app as well as a mobile optimized website are on the list of considerations. I regret not having more progress to report and, at this point, I’m unable to give you a timeframe. I assure you that you’ve been heard and will be notified when we make more significant progress.

Chris- I just wanted to follow up to see if your company is any closer to creating an android app. Far more people use android than Iphone. The most recent survey indicated that 43% of all smartphones use android versus only 28% that use the Iphone system. It makes good sense to add an android app as soon as posible. Do you have a timetable at releasing the app?
